This weekend, the ESL studios in Cologne will see 72 hours of non-stop gaming action with the ASUS Play It Cool marathon to feature three games in total: Heroes of the Storm, Dota 2 and Hearthstone.

The Hearthstone part of the marathon will last for 24 hours, during which four professional players will be challenged to climb the ladder as high as possible with brand-new accounts. Forsen, Savjz, Reynad and Kungen will race to the top with fresh accounts and compete for the first prize of $5,000, awarded to whomever has the highest ranking at the end of the marathon.

The Rules & Conditions:

  • The accounts will have all classes unlocked with 20/20 Mage basic cards and 10/20 basic cards for all other classes.

  • Before the action starts players will take turns banning classes which other players will not be able to use. Each player will have 3 banned classes.

  • Naxxramas and Blackrock will be unlocked but not completed. Players will need to choose whether trying to complete them is worth the loss in time that could be spent laddering.

  • Players will also be allowed to disenchant cards and use any gold they earn. However, they will not to permitted to play the Arena.

  • Head to head: if players meet on the ladder, the winner will choose a card of the loser to disenchant.

Extra packs!

  • Every hour, each player will be able to open three new packs. They can choose between classic packs & Goblin and Gnomes packs

  • Every three hours, the player in last place will get three packs.

  • Every two hours viewers will be able to participate in a Twitter vote in which they can select which player will receive an additional five packs.

If multiple players hold the same rank after 24 hours, a tiebreaker match will be played, where the players in question will face each other in a best of three. Each player will bring two decks, with the defeated decks to be eliminated. The first player to eliminate two of their opponent’s decks wins.

The whole event will be hosted on Twitch where well-known Heartstone personalities: Frodan, Admirable, Kripp, Gnimsh, Lothar and Gaara, will commentate the matches as they happen. Viewers will also have the opportunity to follow the streamers from their point of view on their respective Twitch channels:

Make sure not to miss this one-of-a-kind event - in which you can see pros performing with decks you would otherwise not see them playing, as they attempt to rank up from the very bottom.

Tune in here on Friday the 1st of May from 20:00 CEST!
