After two action packed evenings, the group stage of ESL German National Championship has ended and we have all four teams for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and League of Legends set in stone. With a couple of surprises down the road, these finals are going to be really interesting to witness.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

In Group A, mousesports and Playing Ducks were the two teams to advance. mousesports were able to win both of their matches against LeiSuRe and myXMG, losing only three rounds in total to take the first spot and the potentially easier opponent in the semis. Playing Ducks came back from an opening loss against myXMG taking down LeiSuRe and myXMG to take the second place.

Group B had the biggest upset for CS:GO in the German Championship. Star team PENTA Sports, who represented Germany two times in a row at the CS:GO Majors at DHW 2014 and ESL One Katowice 2015, dropped out in group stage, while KILLERFISH eSports and Key-Preisvergleich advanced to the finals.

The CS:GO semi finals matchups are:

  • mousesports vs. Key-Preisvergleich
  • KILLERFISH eSport vs. Playing Ducks

League of Legends

In Group A, we saw a newcomer taking the first spot while two former champions clashed for the remaining slot to the finals. The Evil Sharks continued their good run from the cup stage by finishing in first place, forcing Planetkey Dynamics and ESC Gaming to fight for the chance to play in Duisburg. PkD came out on top and joined Evil Sharks.

Group B had mousesports, formerly known as back to back champions n!faculty, topping the group in style. After sending WOLVES down to the lower bracket, they took down EURONICS Gaming, who placed first after the cup stage, to advance to Duisburg. EURONICS Gaming was in turn able to send the WOLVES packing, thereby securing the last spot to the finals.

The League of Legends semi finals matchups are:

  • Evil Sharks vs. EURONICS Gaming
  • mousesports vs. Planetkey Dynamics
