Five things to do in Katowice (besides Intel Extreme Masters)

If you’re travelling to Katowice for the Intel Extreme Masters World Championship or ESL One and aren’t familiar with the city, this is the article for you! Here we take a look at some of the best both gaming and non-gaming-related attractions in Katowice which are worth a visit if you want to take some time to relax before or after the event.

Visit the Silesian Zoo

The Silesian Zoo in Katowice is part of the Silesian Central Park, and is around 48 hectares big. Home to more than 2,500 animals of over 300 species, the zoo also has a dinosaur valley which is populated by 16 to-scale dinosaur statues! Tickets are only 10 Polish Zloty (around €2.50) so there’s no excuse not to pay this place a visit.

If what’s up in the sky is more your thing, you’ll be sure to enjoy the planetarium in Katowice. On a good day it’s possible to observe the sun during the day as well as the moon and stars at night. There are also regular exhibitions as well as a massive sundial. It’s close to the Silesian Zoo and both can easily be visited in a single trip.

Laser tag at Laser House

If you feel like blowing off some steam after watching the nailbiting CS:GO action during ESL One, why not take part in a legendary game of laser tag? Games take about 30 minutes and groups of two to twenty players can join, so get ready to suit up and jump right into the action!

If you’re looking for somewhere to go after Intel Extreme Masters Katowice and want to meet up with some fellow League of Legends fans then this event is the way to go. Previous League of Legends parties like Bar of Legends during Intel Extreme Masters Cologne have always been a huge success, and it’s definitely the most fun way to end a day of high-end League of Legends action. Make sure to wear your Teemo hat or come in cosplay - they are amazing conversation starters and might get you some new friends to take to the Rift with!
