Gears of War Pro League Season 2 Finals: a new champion team emerges!

Season 2 of the ESL Gears of War Pro League has come to an end! After a day full of intense matchups and amazing prizes in the ESL Arena at PAX East, we have new Gears of War champions: Team EnVyUs. Thank you to everyone who watched the show and participated in the action throughout the season. Here’s a rundown of yesterday’s action from the Finals that put EnVyUs on top!

The night kicked off with Team EnVyUs against DreamTeam, with the casters and the crowd betting on the Season 2 frontrunners. DreamTeam however, put up an amazing fight, taking two maps early in the match and setting the stage for a possible upset.

Once EnVyUs found their footing, they quickly turned the action around, winning the first match of the day.

In the next heated matchup, returning champions Denial eSports battled Notorious, who edged their way past them in the standings during the last week of the regular season, earning the #2 seed in the process. The wolfpack dominated with a 3-0 sweep, proving their team’s skill and earning themselves a seat in the final matchup of against Team EnVyUs.

In the epic consolation match, Notorious and DreamTeam proved that they were deserving of a spot in the top four, taking the third and fourth place prizes, respectively.

THE FINAL MATCH

For the second season in a row, Denial and EnVyUs were the last two teams standing, and both had a lot to prove. Denial went into the last match of the day trying to keep their championship title, while EnVyUs wanted to prove their dominance after a close loss in the Season 1 Finals. Although Denial kept the rounds almost even, EnVyUs swept the match 4-0 and took their rightful spot as the new Gears of War champions!
