Playoffs

Friday, August 19th, was playoffs day with the four remaining teams ready to battle for the trophy. The Jabronis took everyone by surprise by taking the first map off Team Dignitas but the favorites got back on track quickly and won the semifinal 3-1. The second semifinal, as well as the grand final, needed all five maps to be played out in order to determine a winner. There were many emotions and edge-of-the-seat moments but it was Team Dignitas who cemented their position as the best European Heroes of the Storm team and took home the trophy.

The full playoffs results were as follows:

Semifinals

  • Team Dignitas vs. The Jabronis 3-1
  • FNATIC vs. Misfits 2-3

Grand final

  • Team Dignitas vs. Misfits 3-2

Tiebreaker

The show wasn’t over after the grand final. Since Misfits finished second in the tournament, they needed to yet again face FNATIC in a tiebreaker to see who would be joining Team Dignitas at BlizzCon. Both teams were very determined but also tired after a long day of playoffs. All three maps needed to be played with the final map going without a single kill for about 25 minutes. In the end, it was FNATIC who prevailed, taking the series 2-1, and celebrated their future journey to BlizzCon.
