Looking back at the first day of the ESL One Cologne 2016 offline qualifier

A full set of eight matches kicked off the very first qualifier for a CS:GO Major using the Swiss mode. With some very interesting teams among those with ambitions to become challengers for ESL One Cologne 2016, we had a good bunch of favorites struggling as well as underdogs biting back as not all the big names were on top of their game yet.

The first day of play in Katowice

Right for the first day of action, there were a bunch of matches the CS:GO community was longing for. EnVyUs clashing with Immortals was one of those, almost guaranteeing to be a thrill to watch. But it were other matches which stood out after an eventful first day of competition for the challenger spots at ESL One Cologne.

mousesports and Fluffy Gangsters had one of those nailbiter matches, where the Germans got close to missing a good start multiple times. In the end, NiKo and his team secured the match by a 19-16 scoreline in the overtime. Gambit Gaming took on OpTiC Gaming over the full 30 rounds, before closing out the series victorious.
