Since the release of the PlayStation®4 (PS4™) Tournaments feature in October 2016, millions of PS4 owners have battled one-on-one in competitions hosted by ESL. With the launch of the new Team Tournaments feature, teams are now able to seamlessly sign up for tournaments, see matches, and play together online.

“At ESL we’re constantly working to bring esports to fans around the world in an environment that lets players focus on what matters most: their gameplay.” said Marcel Menge, Senior Vice President Play & Platforms at ESL. “The Team vs. Team feature will lower the barrier of entry for emerging talent and allow ease of access to competition for teams around the world.”

The Team Tournaments feature kicks off with Mantis Burn Racing, Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, with more titles joining the ranks in the future. The integration is global, supporting 15 different languages to enhance competitive gaming on PS4 systems worldwide.

Titles with Team Tournaments capability are directly integrated with either ESL or Sony Interactive Entertainment, meaning that game lobbies are automatically created for all players of a match and match results are automatically reported. From start to finish, everything is automated and players can fully focus on their matches.

According to a report from the international research firm Newzoo, there is enormous potential for esports growth among console gamers, as only 25% of all console gamers currently identify as competitive gaming enthusiasts.

Be sure to follow ESL on Twitter and Facebook for all the latest esports updates and sign up for ESL Play to participate in online tournaments worldwide.
