It’s time to give PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS (PUBG) a stage worthy of its meteoric rise - introducing the Gamescom PUBG Invitational Presented by Bluehole and ESL!
Eighty PUBG players, influencers and gamescom attendees will be competing at the game’s very first LAN invitational from August 23rd – 26th in Cologne, Germany – and you have a chance to compete against them all!

A staggering $350,000 USD prize pool will be up for grabs! Additionally, starting from August 3rd, players will have the opportunity to purchase exclusive vanity items in PUBG, with the proceeds directly supporting the Gamescom PUBG Invitational as well as charities of Bluehole’s selection.

“From very early on we knew that the success of PUBG was reliant on the passion of its community. We want to celebrate this by inviting eighty of the top players from around the world to compete in the first offline invitational,” said Chang Han Kim, VP and Executive Producer at Bluehole Inc. “It’s been incredibly rewarding to see how quickly our community has grown, and can’t wait to hear about everyone’s experience this summer."

“We’re thrilled to see PUBG enhancing its already amazing in-game experience with a competitive LAN component at Gamescom” said Ralf Reichert, CEO at ESL. “The game’s been a smash hit and its natural evolution into a competitive title has been incredibly exciting to watch. We’re looking forward to working with Bluehole on this, and many more events to come.”

Format

The tournament will span over four days and include a variety of game modes, such as Solo Mode, Duo Mode, Duo FPP (First Person Perspective) and Squad Mode. The best overall scores after three matches will determine the winners.

The event will be broadcasted across Twitch, FacebookYouTubeMixer and Twitter starting at 16:00 CEST each day and both PUBG and ESL will provide extensive coverage, including interactive community engagements with participating players on social media. On top of that, gamescom attendees will have the chance to join in on the action, meet Bluehole dev team members and play the latest build of PUBG.

We’ll be revealing more details about the Gamescom PUBG Invitational over the coming weeks including player announcements, prize pool distribution and further gamescom related PUBG activities. Don’t miss out on anything by following ESL PUBG on both Twitter and Facebook and be sure to check out the official PUBG website for the latest news.
