We’re excited to announce that ESL’s technical development team will be working together with Microsoft in order to integrate ESL tournament systems directly into the Xbox Live tournaments platform.
A revolutionary step in the evolution of esports, the partnership will allow both developers and publishers easy and automated access to live tournaments as well as giving them the ability to take tournament logistics into their own hands.
Arne Peters, VP of strategic relations and ESL technology, said of the partnership:
“The tournament experience on ESL platforms looks to see a significant increase thanks to our partnership with Microsoft. ESL platform integration is a big step forward in establishing competitive gaming and esports. We are very happy to be working with Microsoft on projects such and these and are excited to see them embrace the significance of esports and its phenomenal growth.”
Tournaments run by ESL will now be able to be optimized by game developers to feature in-game integration and more on both consoles and PCs. Numerous seamless ESL tournament integrations already exist for a multitude of games on PC platforms, with the addition of the Xbox Live tournaments platform helping to bring competitors a cohesive experience across both Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs.
The ESL tech team is currently preparing to assist developers in getting their games ready for tournament integration, with the first games to use the ESL tournament system on Xbox One already in the making.
